Eco-Friendly Gift Wrapping for the Holidays

One of the most exciting parts of the holidays is opening up presents. However, most of the eye-catching glittery and metallic wrapping paper is not recyclable and belongs in the trash after its use. There are many sustainable alternatives to single-use wrapping paper.

Here are some eco-friendly suggestions!

Fabric

There is a Japanese tradition of furoshiki fabric wraps. Fabric wraps are extremely versatile, and there are lots of designs to experiment with. Beyond wrapping, fabrics have many uses.

Newspaper

Newspapers are an affordable alternative, and this option is recyclable. It also looks extremely chic when decorated!

Postal Paper

This option of plain paper offers lots of variety– I would recommend white or kraft brown. Decorating the wrapping with twine, festive ribbon, and/or pine tree sprigs will complete the look.
